The Landing Page That Changed My Life

The Landing Page That Changed My Life

Kasey West

I was tired. Like, really tired.

Not just the "I need a vacation" kind of tired — although I needed one of those too. I'm talking mentally checked out, physically exhausted, and running on fumes. I was dealing with a new hypothyroidism diagnosis, vertigo episodes that were dictating my every move, and a general grumpiness that I'm pretty sure my coworkers still haven't forgiven me for.

I had spent years in veterinary medicine, a field I genuinely love, but somewhere along the way, the spark had dimmed. And while I was busy trying to keep it together at work, my husband was out there sending me photos from exciting places like some kind of travel influencer.

There he was, in amazing places. And there I was, on the couch, like… 😭

It wasn't just FOMO. It was the realization that my job was making me tired, and making me miss things. Things that mattered, that I couldn't get back.

So I did what any slightly desperate person does at 11pm when they can't sleep… I started Googling.

The Search That Started Everything

I wasn't even sure what I was looking for. Remote jobs, maybe. Remote writing jobs. Anything that offered a sliver of hope that things could be different.

I had actually started online data analyst classes a few weeks prior, out of desperation. I'd passed the first few, and I was doing the work, but something just wasn't clicking. So even while I was doing those classes, I kept searching, because somewhere in my gut I knew that wasn't it. I just didn't know what "it" was yet.

Then one day, an ad found me on Instagram.

I could totally thank the algorithm, but honestly, it was kismet. Because that little ad stopped my doom-scrolling. It said something like "write for brands you love" — and between that hook and the name of the course itself, Write Your Way to Freedom, I was totally intrigued. Even the design was sleek & calming, and the colors were just right. So I clicked.

Which led me to the sales page that changed everything.

The Page That Felt Like It Was Written Just For Me

I want you to understand something. I didn't know what copywriting was. Like, at all. 😂

But as I scrolled through that sales page — sentence by sentence, section by section — something wild started happening. I kept thinking... are you kidding me?

It was like whoever wrote that page had somehow reached into my brain, pulled out every fear and hope and frustrated late-night thought I'd ever had, and handed it back to me in the most reassuring way possible. I physically felt weight lift off my shoulders. I felt inspiration fill the space where exhaustion had been living rent-free for way too long.

And then I had a thought that I'll never forget: I can't wait to tell my husband about this.

That's when I knew... this is what I want to be when I grow up, lol.

The Part Where Self-Doubt Showed Up (Because Of Course It Did)

Here's where I'll be real with you, because I think it's super important.

This wasn't a small investment. It was a big ticket offer, and the enrollment process actually required a sales call with a staff member to make sure it was the right fit.

My first reaction? Dag on, they're not just taking my money. They seem like they actually care.

But even with that reassurance, the self-doubt crept in. Can I really do this? Is this actually for me? You know the feeling.

But here's the thing (and this is the part that still gets me as a copywriter) — that sales page had already answered every single one of my objections before I even knew I had them. By the time I got on that call, I wasn't really looking for permission; I just needed someone to confirm what I already felt in my gut.

A good sales page does that. It meets your buyer exactly where they are and walks them home. That page did it for me. And now? It's exactly what I do for my clients. 🙌

What Happened Next

I signed up, duh! I got access to my course materials, and I remember looking at everything laid out in front of me, thinking, okay... I've been given the tools. Now it's on me.

It wasn't long before I went from full-time to part-time at my job. Then part-time to PRN (as needed). Do I still pick up the occasional shift? Yeah, cuz I just like it. 😄

But here's what actually matters to me.

It's the family emergency where I didn't have to choose between being there for my family and getting my work done… because I could do both, on my own time.

It's planning a trip with my husband without crossing my fingers that my PTO request would get approved.

It's being the one who can stay home when the washer/dryer gets delivered, or take the car to the shop, or just show up, for my husband, for my family, and for myself, without the stress and finagling that used to come with every single ask.

That's what freedom actually looks like. The everyday ability to say yes to your life.

Why I'm Telling You This

Because somewhere out there, there's someone scrolling at 11pm, hoping to find a little hope.

And maybe your landing page is the one they're about to find.

The person reading your page isn't just a potential buyer. They're a real human in a very real moment, searching for something that will actually change things for them. That's a big deal.

And if you want someone in your corner who gets that (like really gets it), I'd love to be that person for you.

Let's chat. :)
